The General Assembly, through resolution 79/40 on the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons in all its aspects, decided to convene the ninth biennial meeting of States (BMS9) in 2026, to consider key challenges and opportunities relating to the implementation of the Programme of Action and the International Tracing Instrument at the national, regional and international level

The ninth Biennial Meeting of States to Consider the Implementation of the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects will be held from1-5 June 2026 in New York.
